The mission of Alianza Tecuani is to strengthen the vitality of the Indigenous Peoples through the dignified amplification of ancestral traditions, shared stories, mother language, and enduring bond with Mother Earth.
Alianza Tecuani organizes events to share knowledge about the history, traditions, and rights of First Peoples. These include public gatherings, workshops, and presentations led by elders and knowledge keepers.
Projects
The Alianza Indigena Sin Fronteras (Indigenous Alliance without Borders)
As the oldest Indigenous Rights organization dedicated to Indigenous Peoples impacted by the U.S. Mexico Border, Indigenous Alliance strives to secure safe passage of Indigenous peoples through their own lands, as protected under the corpus of international human rights instruments including the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Indigenous peoples reside on either side of the border and deserve equal rights to celebrate their unique cultural and spiritual traditions, educate their youth as they see fit without external interference, maintain their family ties, and have the opportunity for civic engagement within their own communities.
Indigenous Languages Office
The Indigenous Language Office (ILO) recruits and coordinates volunteer interpreters, provides training in interpretation protocols, maintains a network of interpreters for 17 Indigenous and 13 non-Indigenous languages, produces informational videos in Indigenous languages, and conducts research and advocacy around Indigenous immigrant rights.
Thriving Aunties
Honors the Rights of Mother Earth and addresses the need for traditional plant medicine, preservation, regeneration and health resources in Indigenous communities, by gifting plant-based medicine to Indigenous organizations and QTBIPOC-allied activists, aiming to promote healing and wellness through Indigenous practices. Leading from a place of reciprocity, respect and regeneration, care and honoring cultural traditions by providing medicines that support holistic health and well-being, Thriving Aunties fosters "healing as self-governance".
