The California Consortium for Urban Indian Health (CCUIH) is a statewide leader advancing the health, wellness, and sovereignty of American Indian and Alaska Native communities living in urban settings. Representing a network of Urban Indian Health Organizations across California, CCUIH works at the intersection of policy, community, and culture to ensure Native communities are not only seen—but resourced, respected, and able to thrive.

Urban Native communities are among the most underfunded and overlooked populations in public health systems, despite making up the majority of Native people in the United States. CCUIH exists to change that reality. Through strategic advocacy, community-driven programming, and technical assistance, we are reshaping systems to better serve Native people—centering traditional knowledge, cultural practices, and community-defined solutions at every step.

Our work spans critical areas including behavioral health, substance use prevention and recovery, violence prevention, youth leadership, and traditional healing. From launching statewide initiatives like Rising Together, which supports survivors of violence through culturally grounded care, to advancing policy efforts that make traditional healing services reimbursable under Medi-Cal, CCUIH is building sustainable pathways for healing and resilience.

What sets CCUIH apart is our role as both a convener and a catalyst. We bring together Urban Indian Health Organizations, Tribal partners, state agencies, and national leaders to align efforts and drive meaningful change. At the same time, we invest directly in communities—equipping local leaders, uplifting youth voices, and ensuring programs are designed with, by, and for Native people.

This is not just programmatic work—it is movement building. It is the restoration of systems that honor Native ways of knowing and being. It is the intentional creation of a future where Native communities are healthy, safe, and thriving for generations to come.

Your investment in CCUIH is an investment in equity, in innovation, and in the power of community-led change. Together, we are not just addressing disparities—we are building a new standard of care rooted in culture, dignity, and self-determination.
