Our Mission
NIEA is the only national organization advocating for improved educational opportunities to enable all Native students to thrive in the classroom and beyond. Founded in 1969 by Native educators, NIEA equips all advocates with the knowledge and tools needed to support Native students in reaching their full potential. By getting involved, you support NIEA’s capacity to provide better services for our American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian (AI, AN, NH) students and their advocates.

Our Work

In the past year, NIEA reached thousands Native students through professional development, advocacy training, and policy initiatives. With your support, we will expand that reach in 2025-26, ensuring that Native students in rural, urban, reservation, and off-reservation schools have access to culturally sustaining education and leadership opportunities.

Your generosity makes direct impact. A gift of:

  • $50 supports resource materials for an educator in a tribal school.
  • $250 trains one advocate in culturally responsive teaching strategies.
  • $1,000 helps launch a new leadership initiative for Native youth across three states.
