SOVEREIGNTY. SAFETY. JUSTICE.
The National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) is a Native-led nonprofit organization dedicated to ending violence against Native women and restoring Tribal sovereignty. We serve as a national hub for technical assistance, training, policy advocacy, and resource development that is community-driven.
Based in Lame Deer, Montana, and led by Native women, our work centers the strength and leadership of Tribal Nations, Native organizations, and grassroots advocates working to protect Native women, families, and communities.

OUR MISSION:
To provide national leadership to end violence against Native women and communities by supporting culturally grounded grassroots advocacy.
OUR VISION:
Collective liberation through the restoration of sovereignty and safety of Native women and communities.
Why This Work Matters
Violence against Native women remains a widespread and deeply rooted issue. Available data underscores the urgent need to strengthen responses:
More than 4 in 5 American Indian and Alaska Native women have experienced violence in their lifetime.
1 in 3 Native women has experienced sexual violence.
In some Tribal communities, Native women face murder rates up to 10 times the national average.
Gaps in jurisdiction and under-resourced services continue to limit access to safety and justice.
Why Your Support Matters
As a Native-led nonprofit, NIWRC is uniquely positioned to understand and respond to the needs of Tribal communities. Through community-driven support, Tribal Nations and Native organizations are better equipped to serve survivors, strengthen prevention efforts, and create sustainable responses to domestic and family violence.
