We are celebrating our 16th year with our season Growing the Tradition and would love your support.
Thank you for your support of New Native Theatre!
We're a new way of looking at, thinking about, and staging Native American stories.
Started in 2009 by playwright, Rhiana Yazzie, NNT has been serving Minnesota's Native community and beyond with authentic and loving stories by and for the Native American community and all of Minnesota.

Growing the Tradition
In Native circles, performance, inclusion, and cultural connection are unbroken, and every part of our season reflects this strength. New Native Theatre (NNT), has grown into the nation’s largest Native-led nonprofit theatre company, and we proudly announce our 16th Anniversary Season, Growing the Tradition. Our offering is a dynamic lineup of Indigenous stories ranging from family-friendly superhero adventures to deeply human dramas grounded in Native experiences and worldviews. Founded in 2009 in the Twin Cities, NNT continues to break ground by blending theatrical innovation with cultural authenticity. Now entering its 16th season, the company is thrilled to present a year of mainstage productions, youth programming, and community celebrations that reflect the complexity and diversity of Native life today.
At New Native Theatre, a season is more than a lineup—it’s a living expression of Native presence, resistance, and joy. NNT’s programming is rooted in community and shaped by Native worldviews where art, outreach, and service are part of the same circle. Our Two Spirit Powwow and our Youth Theater Summer Camp are held with the same care, curation, and artistic vision as our mainstage productions. Each gathering is deeply rooted in our shared, Indigenous values.
More than ever, your tax-deductible gift will make a difference in the livelihoods of Native artists and community members.
Very warmly,
Rhiana Yazzie, Artistic Director
