Skaˀnikú·lat is a 501(c)(3) Indigenous women-led, community-based organization dedicated to revitalizing the Oneida language and culture as a foundation for community empowerment and self-determination. We believe that language and cultural knowledge are essential to strengthening identity and fostering leadership. We operate through a grassroots, community-driven approach where the people most impacted by language loss and cultural erosion—Oneida families—define our priorities and lead the way in shaping programs that address these challenges. Our approach is rooted in holistic education, where language and cultural learning are not just about preservation but are tools for raising consciousness, reclaiming identity, and fostering collective action. Recognizing the power of coalition building, we actively collaborate with other Indigenous-led organizations, educators, and advocacy groups to amplify our impact, share resources, and build a strong, united front in language and cultural revitalization efforts. Through our work, we aim to create systemic change that ensures the next seven generations inherit a thriving, self-determined Oneida Nation.
