Empower Native Voices Through Film
$0 Raised
For 50 years, Vision Maker Media has been a leader in supporting and amplifying Indigenous voices through film and public media.
Founded in 1976 by Frank Blythe, the organization began as a media archive preserving Native American history, culture, and generational wisdom—but quickly grew into a national force dedicated to the development, production, and distribution of programming by and about Native Americans and Alaska Natives for PBS stations nationwide.
Today, Vision Maker Media brings Indigenous storytelling into homes and classrooms across the country—through public television, community-based events, social media, and streaming platforms.
Your support helps continue this vital work.
“Native people share their wisdom and knowledge by the telling and retelling of stories,” says Francene Blythe-Lewis, President & CEO of Vision Maker Media. “The stories mark histories, express relationships to climates and environments, and instill humanity, as well as lessons learned and joys.”
Through training, mentorship, and community partnerships, Vision Maker Media empowers Native creators to share their stories on their own terms.
Over its 50-year history, the organization has supported the vast majority of Native-produced public media—helping ensure these stories are preserved, shared, and celebrated for generations to come.
Vision Maker Media envisions a world changed and healed by understanding Native stories and the public conversations they generate.
