When is Native Nonprofit Day?
Native Nonprofit Day is on Friday, May 16th, 2025. But, we are hosting early and late giving! We will open online giving on May 1st, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Donations made from May 1 through May 22 will count towards the Native Nonprofit Day campaign.
What is the goal of Native Nonprofit Day and #GiveNative on Giving Tuesday?
In 2021, Native Ways Federation launched two giving days focused on supporting Native-led nonprofits. We provide resources for organizations and supporters to uplift Native-led nonprofits, including social media content, messaging, virtual workshops, and more.
Who is behind Native Nonprofit Day?
Native Nonprofit Day is powered and hosted by Native Ways Federation.
Our mission is to activate and expand informed giving to Native-led nonprofits in Indian Country through donor education and advocacy. We envision a thriving Native-led nonprofit sector, championing a diverse community rooted in Indigenous values and ways of being.
Visit NativeWays.org to learn more about our work.
Who is eligible to participate in Native Nonprofit Day?
We invite Native-led, U.S.-based, charitable nonprofits participating in to sign up for the list. Organizations must meet all four criteria, listed below, to qualify and must submit their information via the form by the deadlines.
New organizations and organizations currently on the list must signup on the new platform. We closed the original Native Nonprofit List at NativeWays.org on April 30, 2025.
Click here to learn more about registering and deadlines.
Criteria:
To be recognized on the Native Nonprofit List, we require organizations to meet all four of the following criteria:
My organization isn't a 501c3, 7871 Tribal Nonprofit, nor currently fiscally sponsored, but we have an active mission and record of service as a Native-led nonprofit supporting Native nations, people and communities. Can we participate?
There's nothing wrong with being tiny but mighty! Consider finding a fiscal agent for the giving day.
Please keep in mind, there's a unique registration process having a fiscal agent and please review these instructions and contact support@mightycause.com when you're ready to register.
The nonprofit organization will receive the full donation, minus a platform fee of 3.5% and credit card processing fee of 2.9% and $0.30.
For donors that give via their bank account, credit card processing fees will be replaced by a 1% transaction fee, plus a $1.50 fixed fee per transaction (total ACH processing fees will be capped at $5.00). ACH option will be available for donation amounts $50 or more.
By default, donors are opted in to cover the transaction costs for your nonprofit when checking out. They can opt-out of covering the fee within the checkout flow as well. When donors cover the fee the nonprofit gets 100% of the intended donation.
All donations are final and cannot be refunded. All donations on Native Nonprofit Day are made to the Mightycause Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that permits donors to advise a regranting of their donations to qualified charitable organizations.
All participating organizations who wish to be on the Native Nonprofit List must register. The registration deadline to join the List in time for Native Nonprofit Day was April 28, 2025. We will reopen registration after the Native Nonprofit Day campaign.
Find details about registration using the "For Nonprofits" menu at the top of the page.

Please make sure your page is in tip-top condition by May 1!
How will donations made on Native Nonprofit Day be distributed?
Each donation made to your organization will be disbursed directly to your nonprofit from the Mightycause Foundation.
While checks are disbursed on the tenth of the month, EFTs are deposited twice monthly: on the 10th and the 25th of the month.
No, donations made through Native Nonprofit Day will be receipted from the Mightycause Foundation. However, we do encourage you to send a thank you note to your donors letting them know how awesome they are!
How do I view donor information?
You can access a real-time donation report by logging into your administrative account, going to your nonprofit page, and clicking the tab "Reports & Data" then click on the "Donations" tab in the dropdown menu. You can set the date filter and download this report into a .csv file. Mightycause also provides an online Disbursement Report so you can cross-reference transactions re-granted in your monthly disbursement. You can access this under the "Reports" tab by clicking the link "Disbursement Report".
Can we give anything in return for a donation?
Native Nonprofit Day and Mightycause do not support the selling of tickets, auction items, or any other goods or services as a part of this day. The donor of any online donation cannot receive, nor be promised to receive, any valuable goods or services as a result of a donation via GiveNative.org.

Yes. You can provide cash or check donations to the participating organizations. You will need to ensure it's mailed or dropped off directly to the organization.
Native Ways Federation and MightyCause cannot process offline donations for another organization. Make checks out to the receiving organization. Do not mail checks to Native Ways Federation or MightyCause Foundation intended for organizations on the Native Nonprofit List.
The organization(s) you choose to support will receive donor name and contact information, unless the donor chooses to make an anonymous contribution.
As host of the Native Nonprofit List, Native Nonprofit Day, and #GiveNative on Giving Tuesday, Native Ways Federation will receive contact information for donors who participate in the giving event and do not give anonymously. This information is used to thank the donor for participating and share updates about ongoing giving opportunities, unless you opt-in to receiving further communications from Native Ways Federation.
All donations are final and cannot be refunded.
Upon successful processing of your donation, your tax receipt is emailed to you immediately by Mightycause Foundation. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please retain your email donation receipt as an official record.
If you misplace this email, you can view your giving history and receipts by logging into your Mightycause account, or request a duplicate receipt by emailing support@mightycause.com.
Why don't I see my favorite Native nonprofit or cause listed?
While Native Nonprofit is free to any and all qualified nonprofit organizations to participate, they must register to participate via the GiveNative.org website. Native Ways Federation does its best to reach out and invite any and all organizations it knows of to participate.
If you don't see a particular organization, you can email info@nativeways.org to introduce us to the organization. Otherwise, it may be that the organization didn't register or didn't meet the eligibility requirements for participation.
