Lake Traverse Animal Rezcue (LTAR) is a Native-led, women-run nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of animals on the Lake Traverse Reservation and bordering communities. Our board is majority Native, reflecting our commitment to serving our community with cultural understanding and integrity.

Since our founding in 2010, we have:

  • Spayed/neutered and vaccinated nearly 6,000 animals owned by community members

  • Removed over 6,000 unwanted animals from at-risk situations, placing them in foster care and transporting most to trusted rescue partners for rehoming

  • Launched our cat adoption program in 2023, and now adopt out approximately 50 cats annually, with the program based in Shakopee, MN

We are not affiliated with the tribe and receive no public funding. Our work is made possible solely through donations, grants, and grassroots fundraising.

At LTAR, we believe every animal deserves a chance—and that compassionate, community-centered care saves lives.

🐾 We can’t do this without you. Every donation—no matter the size—helps us save lives, provide critical vet care, and create a safer, healthier community for animals and people alike.

👉 Please consider making a gift today to support our mission.

Together, we can continue to be a lifeline for animals who have no one else. Thank you for your support!
