Healers of Tomorrow (HOT) is a nine-month mentorship program from the Native Health Initiative (NHI). The HOT Program pairs high school students interested in health careers with mentors who are health professional in the students' interest area.
A key component of the HOT program are students' community projects. Students identify what 'community' means to them, and choose a health project to serve their community.
NHI pays for all necessary materials and associated costs for each student up to $150 each. We are seeking support in funding these meaningful projects!
Past examples have been:
- Empowering and educating young women, especially from Native and rural communities on their periods, bodies, and sexual/reproductive health
- Teaching elementary students the importance/technique for effective hand washing to stop the spread of germs
- Developing a recruitment video to encourage more homes to open their doors to foster children
- Hosting a blood drive for their school
- Creating dermatology kits for peers to address teen acne
- and so many more!
