Strengthening Our Heritage
The Carmel Band of Rumsen Indians has faced historical injustices that resulted in the displacement from our traditional territory of Carmel, California. Like many Native American tribes, this separation has severely impacted our cultural identity, language fluency, and connection to ancestral lands. However, the tribe is now engaged in a crucial initiatives to return to our homeland and revive our rich heritage for the benefit of the next generation. Our critical goals include:
-
Cultural Preservation: Ensuring the survival and flourishing of our unique language and cultural heritage for future generations.
- Community Empowerment: Supporting the self-determination and cultural revitalization efforts of the Carmel Band of Rumsen Indians.
- Environmental Stewardship: Promoting sustainable land management practices that benefit the environment and future generations.
