Seed to Spirit: 10 Years Standing on Sacred Ground
$52,171 Raised
nibezun celebrates culture as medicine, provides an inclusive space for healing and ceremony, and promotes sustainability for all people and future generations. Residing on sacred Wabanaki land adjacent to the Penobscot River, nibezun is deeply committed to the sacred, unbroken relationship with Mother Earth and each other, living in balance on the ancestral lands and waterways of the Wabanaki. nibezun translates to “medicine” in the Penobscot language. Its root word, “nibi” means water, our first medicine. We water the seven seeds of healing for present and future generations. These seven seeds of healing are Mind, Body, Spirit, Social Connection, Culture, Language, and Earth. They are nourished through nibezun’s interconnected program areas: Wabanaki Languages, Wabanaki Arts, Wellness, Sustainable Lifeways, Ceremony, and Peacemaking. We are a unique and exciting Wabanaki-led, community-focused nonprofit organization located on a culturally and historically significant site.
