New update
We are absolutely full of gratitude and thrilled to share that nibezun has received a one time $50,000 general support grant donation from our foundation partner, Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples!
With your support and this very generous gift by Seventh Generation, we have exceeded our goal of raising $30,000 by Giving Tuesday with a current total of $51,646 raised. We are well underway to reaching our goal of raising $100,000 by January 1st and $300,000 for 2026!
To keep the momentum going, we are looking to match Seventh Generation's $50,000 contribution to help us meet our goal of raising $100,000 by January 1st.
All contributing foundations or institutions that participate in matching Seventh Generation's gift of $50,000, or a portion of that gift, will be featured and promoted on a page of our nibezun website and thanked publicly in posts on nibezun's social media (if desired). Anonymous contributions are also welcome, if preferred!
We invite you to match (or make a contribution toward helping us match) Seventh Generation's grant donation amount of $50,000 to help us reach our goal of raising $100,000 by January 1st. Contributions that fund general support are most beneficial, allowing nibezun to meet rising upkeep costs, sustain our core programs, and adapt programming to center community needs swiftly.
Again, we express our deepest gratitude to Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples and to all of the various community members who have contributed to this fundraiser so far. You are the heart of nibezun.
Our fully staffed team at nibezun cannot wait to bring you a wide variety of programming in 2026. We greatly look forward to celebrating nibezun's 10th year with you at our first ever powwow at nibezun in summer of 2026 (date to be determined; please stay tuned!).
Thank you for being part of nibezun.
Let's keep watering the seeds together!
Woliwoni! 💛
At nibezun, we celebrate culture as medicine, provide an inclusive space for healing, and promote sustainability for all people and future generations. When we honor the teachings of our ancestors, care for the land and waters, and come together in community, we nourish the seven seeds of healing: Mind, Body, Spirit, Social Connection, Culture, Language, and Earth.
This year, as the seasons turned along the Penobscot River, we witnessed these seeds continue to grow strong. 2025 has been a year of connection, celebration, and renewal for our Wabanaki community and all who walk beside us in healing.
As we prepare to step into 2026, we turn to you– our community– for support. The coming year marks our 10 year anniversary, and we are thrilled to announce our plans to host our first-ever powwow at nibezun– open to all– to celebrate a decade of community, healing, and cultural revitalization on this sacred land. We invite you to join us! At the same time, we continue nurturing our core programs– Wabanaki languages, Wabanaki arts, wellness, ceremony, sustainable lifeways, and peacemaking– that make nibezun what it is. A few of our intentions for 2026 are: increasing signage on our trails to make them accessible and user-friendly for all who visit nibezun, hosting sustainable Hempcrete building workshops, expanding our language revitalization programming, providing solstice and equinox sunrise ceremonies, and offering more land-based education opportunities and Wabanaki arts workshops.
As a fully staffed team, we are working hard to meet the rising costs of maintaining our grounds, programs, and community offerings at a time when funding is increasingly scarce. We need each other now more than ever. Your contributions directly support the heart of nibezun and help us sustain our foundational programs while bringing new visions to life for our community and future generations. Together, we can keep this sacred work thriving and ensure that the next decade of nibezun is filled with even more healing, celebration, and connection.
We encourage you to “give back” by becoming involved in your community and through large and small acts of generosity, known as “awikelətaməwαkan” in the Penobscot language. Each donation waters the seven seeds of healing, ensuring that future generations can walk in balance, knowing who they are, where they come from, and how we move forward– together.
We invite you to help sustain our programs and to celebrate nibezun’s 10th year with us. Together, we can keep this sacred work thriving for generations to come.
Please consider making a gift today to our fundraising campaign, Seed to Spirit: Ten Years of Standing on Sacred Ground, to celebrate 10 years of nibezun and to help us continue nurturing the seven seeds of healing. We invite you to give– and to give Native– this Giving Tuesday and beyond. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, is a precious gift.
Woliwoni! With deep gratitude and in community,
